The Greenbuild 2009 Expo, held at Manchester Central, showcased the latest ideas, products and technologies to help those involved in construction meet the government's targets of reducing carbon emissions by 80 per cent by 2050. It is an industry event to promote a decisive move to more sustainable development, hoping to educate the construction industry about green building products, renewable technologies and sustainable development.
As awareness increases and the government incentivise eco-friendly building and carbon neutral homes, more and more people will start to demand this as the standard for their home, so it’s important for builders and construction companies to understand the underlying technologies and drivers.
Some of the topics discussed at Manchester Central included renewable energy, reducing construction waste and achieving the higher levels on the Code for Sustainable Homes.
