Ecobuild 2009

Ecobuild is the world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment – the most comprehensive product showcase anywhere and the definitive source of information for the sector. Almost doubling in size every year since its launch in 2005, Ecobuild 2009 hosted 857 exhibitors and 34,617 visitors at London’s Earls Court.

Both the government and the wider construction industry acknowledge that a radical step change in the way we currently design and build is required if environmental targets are to be met. For the majority ‘going green’ is regarded as both complicated and expensive – however Ecobuild provides SIG with the opportunity to demonstrate that there are a wide range of practical and realistic solutions available providing tangible environmental and economic benefits that will improve a building’s performance.”

On the stand we exhibited a model pitched roof incorporating the following elements:

• Solarcentury Slate PV Panels – the C21e is a unique, slate roof integrated, solar electric tile using the most efficient solar cells in the world. The C21e tiles are integrated in the same way as conventional slates and sit flush alongside them offering an unrivalled aesthetic.
• Slate– offering the beauty and character of natural slate with high durability and top of the line performance.
• Natural Insulation– insulation products made from natural materials such as sheep’s wool, hemp and Greenloft made from recycled plastics.

This year our stand at the show received hundreds of visitors and over 250 solid enquiries from a variety of different customers, which is more than double the number of enquiries taken the previous year. Steps are now being taken to ensure that these customers are provided with all the information they need to be able to progress with their projects.
