A National Trust site in Wales is expected to benefit from the recent installation of solar panel renewable energy products.
Based at the Stackpole estate in Pembrokeshire, a multipurpose centre operated by the organisation has received a total of 19 flat-plate solar panels to boost its environmental credentials.
A swimming pool within the centre will now be heated by the panels, following financial backing from npower.
Environmental practices advisor for the National Trust in Wales Keith Jones commented: ''The National Trust is committed to reducing our own energy footprint and in developing projects that can enable people to learn about adaptation and efficient resource use and saving money.''
The project forms part of the National Trust Green Energy Fund and is said to have cost £18,000.
Meanwhile, the environmental group Friends of the Earth recently suggested that developed nations such as the UK must continue to focus on renewable energy and low carbon measures to help address climate change issues.
