Planning permission has been granted for sustainable construction work to begin on a £2 million marina development in Northampton, which may encourage more architects and builders to consider the use of eco construction products.
According to the BBC, West Northamptonshire Development Corporation has given the green light to developers behind the proposed eco-friendly building at Becket's Park.
The environmentally-friendly development will include offices, showers and laundry facilities for boaters to use, all housed within a glass building designed to offer panoramic views of the marina.
Peter Mawson, chief executive of the planning group, told the news provider that the centre would use sustainable construction techniques and green building products to make it an eco-friendly development.
''It will be an important part of the marina development, which will be at the heart of a renaissance for Northampton's waterfront,'' he added.
Last week, analysts at AMA Research claimed that sustainable construction products designed to produce renewable energy in the home would see ''significant growth'' in the coming years.
