Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels have played a key role in Doncaster Central Development Trust''s redevelopment of 31 homes in the town, with other sustainable construction products also having been used.
The homes, which feature sustainable materials such as extra-thick insulation, solar thermal heating systems and PV solar panels for a high energy efficiency rating, are now due to go on the rental market, The Star reported.
Jeremy Sherlock, head of assets with the trust, told the news provider that properties had been developed in the town centre, Hexthorpe, Balby and Hyde Park.
He said: ''Each property has been renovated to a very high standard incorporating environmentally friendly features wherever possible.''
Earlier this month, in nearby Scunthorpe, sustainable construction products were said to feature in an £85,000 project to make a hospice in the town more energy efficient.
A total of 15 PV solar panels will be fitted to the roof of Lindsey Lodge Hospice as part of a major sustainable construction project, which will also include the installation of a solar thermal heating system.
