Sustainable construction can have a key role in helping to cut the emissions generated by UK buildings, an organisation has claimed.
Materials manufacturer Lafarge has announced that techniques, innovations and products targeted at reducing emissions are essential in this day and age.
Robert Whetstone, managing director of the company''s aggregates division, claims that domestic consumption is one of the major stresses on the country''s power grid.
He said: ''Delivering sustainable construction technology in both new and existing properties is at the heart of reducing the energy we consume in the UK.''
Mr Whetstone added that the essential step that must be taken in order to boost this area is to develop new and existing partnerships that can feed in to the sector.
Earlier this month, the Construction Skills show was held in Wales, aiming to promote the benefits of sustainable construction.
It offered school children the opportunity to learn more about micro-generation and low-carbon housing.
