Renewable energy is one area that Scotland is continuing to focus on as the country aims to offer more support to the environment, it has been highlighted.
According to Stewart Stevenson, the Scottish government''s minister for climate change, the renewables sector can play an important role in addressing the threats posed by climate change.
He commented: ''A recent Scottish Enterprise report identified a priority list of Scottish sites for renewables development, showing opportunities for investment spread right across the country.''
Meanwhile, the minister also touched upon plans recently unveiled by the Crown Estate which should bolster the country''s wind power resources even further.
The remarks made by Mr Stevenson were outlined during the recent Northern Regions Climate Change Summit.
In a related development, energy firm ScottishPower Renewables has announced that 23 wind power sites that it operates produced an electricity output of around 1.7 million MWh last year.
