Scotland''s potential for further renewable energy development in the future has been reiterated by the country''s first minister.
Speaking in a New Year address, Alex Salmond of the Scottish government highlighted some of the natural resources that the nation can be expected to make use of in the years ahead.
However, Mr Salmond went on to say: ''If we''re going to make the most of this renewable revolution, then we''re going to have to have equal access to the [electricity] grid.''
He used his statement to call for further powers regarding energy generation within Scotland.
Meanwhile, Jim Mather, the Scottish government''s energy minister, last week emphasised the key role that renewable energy resources can play when it comes to addressing the problem of climate change.
He noted the employment benefits that the development of such technologies can have, alongside their ability to cut the amount of carbon that the country emits.
