A renewable energy site based in the Solway Firth is now able to generate power, it has been confirmed.

The 180 MW Robin Rigg wind farm is ready to offer energy to as many as 117,000 properties in the UK, according to E.ON, the firm behind the project.

E.ON is also aiming to play an active role in the development of the London Array, the company''s European renewables managing director Michael Lewis has noted.

He commented: ''We can now look forward to building bigger schemes, like the London Array, the Humber Gateway and our Round 3 project off the coast of Hastings.''

The expert went on to say that his organisation is proud of what it has achieved with the Robin Rigg offshore wind power site.

Earlier in the month, E.ON also revealed that its Great Eppleton wind farm has been provided with new and improved wind turbines.
