The Renewable Energy Association''s (REA) new chief executive has noted the important role that the sector will play in the coming ten years.
It was recently confirmed that Gaynor Hartnell has been given the position within the trade body, which deals with everything ranging from wind power through to things like PV solar panels.
Ms Hartnell believes that deployment of products relating to renewable energy is likely to increase dramatically in the near future.
''This has to be the decade of delivery for renewables, the time when deployment ramps up tenfold.
''New players will enter and transform the energy market.''
The expert also noted the importance of schemes such as the government''s feed-in tariff initiative, which is set to be introduced later this year.
Under this project, homeowners will be given the chance to receive cash back if they generate their own power using technologies such as PV solar panels.
