Plans have been put in place for a council to make substantial savings by cutting the cost of electricity bills through the installation of an array of solar PV panels atop a library in Norwich.
Norfolk County Council is looking to install the panels to the roof of Costessey Library in Norwich in order to cut carbon emissions and allow the building to provide much of the electricity it needs for its operation by itself.
Costessey parish councillor Dianna Bates told Norwich Evening News: "We didn't see it was going to cause any disruption or that it would obstruct anything in any way at all."
It is hoped that the panels will allow the library to produce a sizeable amount of electricity, while also generating income through the government's Feed-in Tarrif scheme, after it was announced that the government had lost its appeal against the overturning of its cutting subsidies in early December.
