A local community is to see the benefits of solar power, after solar PV panels were revealed as a money saving technique for its parish hall, upon the approval of new plans.

Dymock in Gloucestershire will soon see its parish hall powered by the energy saving devices, after the plans were approved, allowing it to generate much of its own electricity, and cut down considerably on its own electricity bills.

The plans will see 16 solar panels attached to the roof of the building, a project which the proposal said will not damage the aesthetics of the village, a problem which recently caused the hold up of a solar farm in Wales which had to apply twice for permission when locals protested.

According to This Is Gloucestershire, a design statement said: "The committee believe that through an investment to produce energy via natural resources they will be making a contribution to the local community by decreasing the demand for energy from power stations and supporting the country's commitment to carbon reduction."
