Solar panels are set to be introduced to the new headquarters of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which is currently being developed in central London.
With sustainable construction focused on in the building''s design, it has now been rated as outstanding by the BREEAM rating system.
The site will produce its own power with the support of solar panel technology and recycled cooking oil.
PwC partner Roger Reeves believes that the environmental aspects of the site ''make good business sense''.
''We had the opportunity with the design process for the building to take a blank sheet of paper and raise the bar,'' he stated.
The ten-storey PwC building is expected to be fully operational next year.
Meanwhile, the start of the government''s feed-in tariff scheme, which will encourage homeowners to adopt technologies such as PV solar panels, is drawing nearer by the day.
The start of next month will see the beginning of the project.
