A council has reaffirmed its commitment to a renewable future for those living in its area through solar PV panels, despite the fact that the country is currently awaiting the outcome of the changes to rules on solar subsidies.
Recently, the High Court ruled that the government's halving of subsidies, which it auctioned in December, was unlawful.
However, Bromsgrove Council reported that money was never the main reason for installing solar panels in its local area, stating that the environment was more key.
Councillor Kit Taylor told the Bromsgrove Advertiser: "Whatever the outcome of the government's legal process, money was never the main motivation for installing solar panels on our buildings."
The councillor said that reducing the carbon footprint was the main reason the council wanted to use panels, but did speak up about the monetary benefits, saying that the panels should have paid for themselves within 11 years of being installed.
