A low carbon scheme is set to provide support to a number of green initiatives, focusing on areas like renewable energy, it has been confirmed.
In a recent information bulletin released by the government''s Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), the organisation has revealed that various local projects have already been selected to receive the backing of the Low Carbon Communities Challenge.
It is hoped that the scheme''s funding will improve the sustainability of certain areas by supporting the introduction of technologies such as wind turbines.
A sum of £10 million will now be allocated to regions of counties including Cheshire, Norfolk and Devon.
Meanwhile, the DECC has recently pledged further money to its Bio-energy Capital Grants initiative, which aims to promote the introduction of things like biomass heating systems into the commercial properties of businesses.
The sixth round of the project will see a total of £4 million made accessible.
