UK homeowners might enjoy financial benefits if further energy efficient lighting products are developed in the near future, according to one minister.
Backed by the government''s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, in collaboration with the Technology Strategy Board, a new competition has this week been announced, in order to support those firms looking to create greener lighting innovations.
While such green building products may help in the country''s efforts to reduce its carbon emissions output, Dan Norris has suggested that energy efficient lighting could also have positive implications for the wider economy.
Mr Norris, the country''s environment minister, commented: ''The more efficient lighting is, the more money consumers save on energy bills and the economy will benefit from new jobs and new manufacturing.''
Meanwhile, the energy efficiency of Welsh householders might be improved through a boiler scrappage initiative, which the country''s assembly government is said to be looking at.
