Householders may need more support to introduce green building products in the future, to improve their focus on energy efficiency, figures suggest.
Which?''s Martyn Hocking believes that ministers may need to step in and offer more support to people, as energy costs go up.
Mr Hocking, the organisation''s editor, commented: ''Energy is going to get a lot more expensive over the next decade so the only way to avoid bigger bills is to use less of it.''
His comments follow research from Which?, with the body predicting that by the year 2020, some of the country''s homeowners may have to face the prospect of 35 per cent hikes in their energy bills.
Meanwhile, eco-friendly measures have already been adopted by one London estate, with some of the buildings on Lambeth''s Ethelred Estate incorporating sedum roofing.
The efforts of the development were recently highlighted by the government''s environment secretary Hilary Benn.
