Proposals to create an offshore wind farm near the Holderness coast continue to be developed, following the submission of a substation planning application.
E.ON hopes to develop the Humber Gateway renewable energy site to provide clean energy to the east Yorkshire region while helping to lower the country''s carbon emissions.
According to the Humber Gateway''s development manager Vaughan Weighill, plans for the new substation - which would connect the wind power site to the UK''s national grid - are the ''final piece'' of the jigsaw.
He said: ''We''ve carefully selected a brownfield industrial site, located as close as possible to the existing power network, to minimise any effect on local communities and residents in the area.''
Meanwhile, Centrica has also recently announced that its plans for an offshore wind farm near Skegness are to progress, with building work expected to start as early as 2010.
It is thought the Lincs development will see 75 wind turbines installed.
