Green Welsh homeowners could see boiler scrappage initiative

The potential launch of a boiler scrappage initiative, which would apply to homeowners in Wales, is being looked at by some of the country''s politicians, it has been noted.

Welsh householders keen to install green building products into their properties may be keen to note that Jane Davidson, the Welsh Assembly government''s environment minister, recently suggested that such proposals are being reviewed.

''We are currently working up a series of proposals taking into consideration the impact on those in fuel poverty, the relative carbon savings and value for money,'' she commented.

Ms Davidson also pointed out the high level of interest which has followed the development of a boiler scrappage scheme across the border in England.

The English initiative went live earlier in the month, with prime minister Gordon Brown noting the employment benefits that it will lead to, alongside the environmental impact it may have in the country.
