More government support should be offered to the country''s schools when it comes to the generation of clean energy, it is believed.
While some schools may already be looking to install renewable energy products like PV solar panels in a bid to go green, a British Gas-backed Generation Green Think Tank suggests that more can be done.
A number of youngsters recently took part in the think tank scheme, offering various sustainable suggestions to the government.
Among its proposals, the group would like to see ministers provide every one of the country''s schools with the financial support required to pay for green energy measures.
Commenting on the scheme, the shadow minister for climate change Greg Barker noted: ''It''s great to see that companies like British Gas are playing a role in helping innovative and engaging green education to take root across the country.''
Meanwhile, the renewable energy commitments of the Scottish government were recently emphasised by Stewart Stevenson, the organisation''s minister for climate change.
