Homeowners looking to increase the energy efficiency of their homes may need to make improvements in a number of different areas, it has been suggested.
While green building products relating to insulation may be required, the National Home Improvement Council''s director Andrew Leech believes that doors, windows and boilers could also be enhanced.
He commented: ''Energy efficiency means covering everything from loft insulation to cavity wall insulation and new boilers and generally upgrading windows and doors. It really is a big project.''
Government targets mean that action needs to be taken very quickly, in order to improve the energy efficiency of the country''s domestic properties, Mr Leech believes.
Meanwhile, the expert also suggests that the next government should look at how consumers can be offered more financial support when it comes to energy efficient measures.
Energy efficiency was also a subject that was recently touched upon in the Communities and Local Government department''s English Housing Survey.
