The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is backing a new sustainable construction scheme to help reduce the carbon emissions produced within the building industry.
Firms operating in eastern regions of the country could be set to benefit from the launch of the Built Environment Supply Chain Transformation scheme, which is designed to promote the development of services and building products that have the environment in mind.
The EEDA''s international director David Morrall has highlighted the importance of sustainable construction methods.
He said: ''Only by being innovative in their working practices can the industry look towards reducing carbon emissions within future construction projects to meet government targets.''
European Regional Development Fund money of £2 million will go towards the £6 million initiative, which is being supported by a range of partner organisations.
Meanwhile, the Scottish government recently suggested that many of the country''s rural residents may be set to receive funding to support the installation of low carbon heat pumps.
