Cornwall is becoming an innovative site for the installation of solar PV panels, after it announced itself as a leader in the field of local authority headed plans to boost the uptake of renewable energy measures.
According to the council in the county, it has overseen the installation of the energy generating panels at around 40 sites in the city recently, as solar energy becomes a regular site for residents.
It is part of plans to eventually slash the carbon footprint of Cornwall as a whole by 1.2 per cent by cutting carbon emissions by 675 tonnes per year.
Eventually, the plans will cost the council up to £500,000, but it hopes to reap the rewards through savings over the 25 year lifespan of the panels.
Recently, Peterborough Council announced a £200 million plan to make itself the eco-capital of the UK through saving energy on projects like solar panels.
