An airport has installed a large array of solar PV panels, as part of a plan which could see it generate a large amount of money over the coming years.
Birmingham Airport has recently seen the installation 200 solar panels to its roof, part of a project which it is hoped will save it substantial amounts per year on energy bills.
The plan should also see it reduce its carbon emissions by 22 tonnes annually, while allowing the airport to generate £17,000 per year from the government's Feed-in Tariff, which will be boosted by the fact the cuts in subsidies were recently judged to be unlawful.
Paul Kehoe, the airport's chief executive officer, "Managing our greenhouse gas emissions is a high priority for the company and we’re always seeking new opportunities to work with partners to reduce our carbon footprint."
The installation will generate 40,000 kWh of energy per year.
