Work has started on the Azerbaijan State Oil Fund''s new premises, which will meet green building project requirements.

The foundation was laid today on the tenth anniversary of the fund, APA reports.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the ceremony and studied the plans for the building, which will include several offices, the Heydar Aliyev museum, a 200-seat conference hall and 150-car two-storey car park.

The 23-storey building will stand 117 metres high, cover 27,000 square metres and be serviced by seven elevators.

Designed by French-based Inter Art Etudes on the recommendations of US-based AECOM, it will meet green building requirements with solar batteries and greenery.

The State Oil Fund was established on December 29th 1999 with the aim of ensuring intergenerational equality of benefit to the country''s oil wealth, improving the well-being of the population and safeguarding economic security for the future.
