Conservative Party plans to improve the sustainability of people''s properties by helping them to meet the costs of things like green building products should go even further, an expert has suggested.

Responding to recent domestic energy efficiency proposals made by the political organisation, the Federation of Master Builders'' Brian Berry claims that householders require further monetary incentives to make environmental enhancements.

Mr Berry, who acts as the body''s director of external affairs, noted: ''The Conservative proposal to enable householders the opportunity to get £6,500-worth of energy efficiency measures is certainly a welcome boost.''

But he went on to suggest that: ''A more realistic figure would be in the order of £15,000.''

Andrew Leech, the director of the National Home Improvement Council, has also recently spoken in favour of energy efficient measures and believes this is an area that needs to be focused upon in the near future.
