Hi, I own a shop next door to a house which has been converted into a groundfloor flat and an upstairs flat. The resident of the groundfloor flat works nights and has complained about the noise levels during the day when he is sleeping, and seeing as this is a Hair Studio noise levels can be quite high. My local planning office have told me I need to do something about this. Can you help?

Have you been told you need to achieve current Part E (acoustic) regulations? If not what have they advised you in terms of making an improvement?

The gentleman advised that I need to show that I am making a reasonable effort to improve the passage of noise from my premise to the property next door. That was all.

Contact me etiennehilaire@eviee.co.uk with your telephone number and I will have a chat with you. I can then put together a few options, each differing in cost and performance and I suggest that you return to you local planning office, offer the very first one(cheapest) as an improvement to the current conditions. If this is all you are asked to demonstrate, an improvement, it will give be fairly easy and cheap to sort out.
